How To Make Money From Writing Your Ebook - Appropriate
Format
Basically, you have got two choices:
1. PDF format.
2. EXE format.
PDF format
PDF or Portable Document Format is a very popular format to use for ebooks. It can be deliver
almost anywhere so palm pilots and the like are okay.
Both PCs and Macs support this format so anyone will be able to read. You can produce your
written files with a word processor and then convert them into PDFs after.
They cannot be altered and you can embed information into the pages which cannot be changed.
If you haven't already then download a copy of Open
Office. This is an open source suite of tools that has a word processor with PDF facility.
You can save your files directly as PDFs at the touch of a button.
EXE format
This format has more funtionality than the humble PDF.
Whatever software compiles the book will turn it into a file with the suffix .exe and it will open in a browser
window.
Some of the advantages of this format revolve around the security of the finished book. You can password
protect different areas of the book.
Also, you can deny people access to these areas if a buyer asks for a refund or cancels their subscription, for
example.
Problems
EXE files will be off limits to Mac users. Also, some people (maybe rightly so) are paranoid about EXE files.
They have the ability to store viruses and some people do not like opening them.
If you are just starting out and do not need the fancy extras, it's better to get going using PDFs.
